Meet Victoria, our certified head pet stylist at Woofs 'n Wags. Victoria comes highly recommended by veterinarians and behaviourists, and here is why.
Victoria has lived and breathed dogs since she was a little girl, and her passion has driven her to make dogs a priority in her life and career. She shares her home with four dogs, three big hairy mutts, and one little lady with a big personality. We know it won't be long before another sneaks their way in, and we hear that she is searching for a big slobbery Newfoundland dog!
Victoria started working as an assistant in a grooming shop in 2009 while going to university for education and kinesiology. She focused her time in her schooling while she managed a restaurant full time. It wasn't long before she met a handsome shepherd in the parking lot who led her to apply at Woofs.
While working with dogs she realized that she needed to follow her dream and focus her studies with anatomy and biomechanics towards the dogs. She finished four years of her schooling and studied behaviour and handling of dogs while working with our team of professionals. She then realized she wanted to make a difference in the dog community with a specialized dog spaw to serve the needs of dogs with special needs, to silly puppies, and the biggest and hairiest dogs in town.
Victoria discussed her vision with Nikki and went through schooling that would help her achieve the goal of a certified pet stylist. Woofs then surprised Victoria with the plans of a store front beautiful spaw in 2012 to support the dream.
Today Victoria holds certificates for many completed over 50 courses and seminars which include breed specific seminars in each dog group such as sporting, non-sporting, long legged terriers, short legged terriers, working, and herding. Both her and Aunty Courtney hold 1st place for the creative grooming competition, and attend a minimum of two seminars a year. She is an active member of the professional pet groomers association of manitoba, and a member of the Canadian Professional Pet Stylists. This proves her commitment to your pet, and vows to be up to date with the best service she can provide to our guests.
Her vast knowledge and eagerness to learn is her strength when it comes to our team, she loves to update herself and do the best for your pup!
While Victoria has mastered the haircuts and loves to show off her skills in the creative grooming world, she specializes in behavioural issues to ensure all dogs have a fair chance to build a relationship and love their spaw days. Although yes, it is true, the bigger and hairier the better for Victoria she loves the giants, and they've never been so loved by a groomer until they have met Aunty Victoria!
Victoria has successfully coached and taught two, now certified groomers, and shares the spaw with non other than our very talented Aunty Courtney. Without each other they couldn't work and help the special cases that come in, because sometimes it takes two, or three! These two girls have a special bond, and a way of helping, both people, and dogs!
